Recent Howard Johnson Old Review: "I only had a 10 hour layover and this was one of the cheaper hotels in the city. A price fixed cab fare from SJU, I ended up waiting 30 min in traffic before getting to my hotel. After checking in, I waited for the elevator. I continued to wait because I have read so much about this elevator I had to ride it myself. 10 min later, I hopped on and closed  the door behind me. After reading the final Harry Potter, I got to the third floor where I tried several times to get my keycard to open the door. When it finally opened, I was greeted by a blast of cool air. A welcome change to the hot and humid San Juan weather. My room didn't have a window but that didn't matter. My bed was a double, and my room reminded my of my college dorm, except smaller. The A/C wasn't adjustable but set at a cool 62 deg. F. I could turn it off, but the room would warm quickly. I'll be honest, i didn't sleep that well, either it was too hot or too cold, the A/C was loud, the bed was uncomfortable and my TV reception was mediocre. The bathroom was nice and roomy however, and the shower had a good stream to it. My advice, if you plan on staying here for a night or two its fine, but if you can afford it and plan to stay in Old San Juan longer, find a better hotel. As for location, it was absolutely fantastic. Right in the heart of OSJ. Went out and found some great restaurants and bars."
