Recent Hotel Miramar Review: "We drove in without realizing that the Festival de Calle San Sebastian in Old San Juan was happening, so it took us a half hour to move 3 blocks to the hotel. However, once we reached there, it was great to have confirmation that parking is free and off the street, and the room was spacious, decorated simply with a great TV, nice view of the church  next door, with lots of closet space. We had a view of the road going into Old San Juan where revelers were singing on their way into the festival. The next day we had a (mostly pastry) continental breakfast in the lobby area, and then forsook the bus to walk into town (about 30 min.) We spent the entire day there sightseeing. The folk music on the streets was amazing, with families singing and clapping to beat, in harmony, and with joy. Explored the forts, had delicious gelato and interesting fried bacalaitos at food stands; ate a delicious late lunch and desserts at the Cafe Berlin (the incredibly sweet waiter who wore braces on his teeth at the Parrot Club directed us there since we have a vegetarian in our party, and the Parrot Club lunch menu had no vegetarian dishes), and then walked back to the hotel in the evening, happily bypassing the cars and buses in the impossible traffic jam (only pedestrians and motorcyles were moving, it seemed). Hotel Miramar is perfect for people who like to do things independently. !Gracia!"

A short guide to San Juan

Buses run to the white sand beaches of both Ocean Park and Isla Verde, five miles away. A marina is 0.25 mile west of the hotel, where deep-sea fishing excursions or cruises can be arranged.

Bistro 606 offers a Caribbean influenced menu, including plantain fritters, mofongo (a Puerto Rican dish similar to hash), salads, and burgers. Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day but Sunday, when the restaurant closes after brunch.
