Recent Hampton San Juan Review: "No real complaints. You might occassionally hear noise from the airport of the planes taking off, which is crazy loud, but I didn't ever notice the noise in the room or outside during the evening hours. A plus is that it is so close to the airport and fairly close (15 min. cab ride) to the cruise ports. The outside pool is awesome with a swim up bar  and grill that produces great bar food. I recommend the burgers and quesadillas! The room was very clean, nicely decorated, and above my expectations after reading some of the reviews for other San Juan hotels. Another plus is the continental breakfast, which the other hotels don't offer and still charge more per night. We unfortunately didn't get up for breakfast so I can't comment about that. We were busy sleeping in the very comfortable king-sized bed. The guest services folks were friendly and accommodating. They were very busy in the late morning with check-outs, so if you don't have to check-out, just skip that part. Taxis seemed to be readily available, parked in the lot waiting, so you don't need to worry about that. One restaurant, well known amongst locals, Metropol, is right next store. It was okay, but be ready for authentic Puerto Rican food and a price to match a mid-scale restaurant, like Carrabas or Macaroni Grill. If you're lucky the cock fight arena will be open in the evening, it's apparently not regularly open. It's between the hotel and the Metropol so directly next store. I wanted to go so bad but my wife wasn't feeling comfortable about going in wearing a dress. It's free to enter and according to the cab driver the roosters don't actually fight to the death, there's allegedly a referee. I would definitely recommend this hotel, but I didn't have an opportunity to stay at any other Puerto Rican hotels for comparison. I would rate this hotel higher than many of our local hotels in Colorado. Definitely a good deal for the price."
